outfits of the day: thanksgiving

every year for thanksgiving, my family and i escape the pre-christmas hustle of connecticut in favor of the serenity of the berkshires- a trip that we look forward to annually. my favorite part of the weekend, though, is crafting the first of many holiday-appropriate outfits. i consider thanksgiving the unofficial start to the season of dressing up for virtually any occasion in the spirit of the holidays, and my sister takes it just as seriously. today we have a lil’ double feature of what we both wore to kick off the holidays. before we jump in, i must explain our poses in these pictures. taking a cute family photo proved to be a major challenge, so we decided that posing for a group shot and then photoshopping each other in accordingly was a perfect solution! as you may assume, the photoshop never happened :)

despite the fact that our thanksgiving party consists of just my parents, sister, and i, my mom insists that we dress up as if it’s a full family affair. no complaints there!

daria opted for a patterned skirt from lord and taylor’s design lab, paired with a knit button-down from abercrombie. in contrast to the short skirt, she wore black la canadienne riding boots.

while dar went for a button down and tall boots, i kept it comfy in two of my all-time favorite pieces- my free people cowl neck sweater and h&m chelsea boots. appropriately, my chiffon skirt was stolen from daria’s suitcase by way of brandy melville.

both of these looks proved to be perfect picks for stuffing our faces all afternoon, although they were both traded for sweats and leggings when the post-turkey bloat kicked in. :)
