summer trends and style tips

this year, i have been paying special attention to what’s trendy this summer and am loving  so many of the latest styles. while i can’t quite jump on board with 90s revival, i allowed this mega-trend to infiltrate my summer dressing in the form of denim skirts. my faves are from lucky brand, bdg and levis and each of these brands’ versions of the piece are available at urban outfitters.

in addition to vintage-inspired denim, i have been totally obsessing over off-the-shoulder tops. this forever 21 find is both the perfect fit and color for summer styling and an ideal pick for anyone on a budget. free people and revolve clothing also debut incredibly on-trend looks during this time of year and browsing their websites is the perfect way to not only find amazing pieces, but get major outfit inspo.

here’s how i combine these trendy items:

because a majority of my summer is spent in a bathing suit, i also wanted to touch on some of my favorite choices for cover-ups, as well as simple and stylish ways to look put together from beach to barbecue. free people is my go-to for breezy dresses to layer over bikinis and i am completely obsessed with this oversized henley to layer over my swimsuit. also, the classic shorts and tank top combo never disappoints, but is definitely in need of an upgrade. i am a huge fan of charlotte russe’s super comfy tie dye shorts, especially paired with a knotted tee or tank.

if it’s necessary for your look to transition seamlessly from day to night, i highly recommend opting for a simple dress, such as a tank dress from brandy melville, and only changing your shoes and accessories. trust me, the difference is major. i recently purchased these espadrille sandals and love the boho touch that they add to a plain outfit at a super reasonable price point. also, consider incorporating stacked bracelets or a statement necklace to elevate your look!
